God I hope i'm not the only old school gamer who got a grin from the title alone, I recently have been in a pickle as since I got my xbox 360 I have been having a real hard time playing all my old abandonware titles. I dug through my old CD collection and found, ultima underworld the stigian abyss, my god I must have played that for two months straight... at uni... 14 years ago...
Still I am now looking for these other classics in the hope It will tide me over until Oblivion drops to the discount bin

cool idea for a editorial.
i played through Deus Ex 2 before playing the original, and while i loved DX2 while i was playing it (i played it through twice completely, before finding DX), i haven't touched it since getting DX.
the only fault i had with both DX and DX2 were the endings. multiple endings are awesome, but i thought that the way the options were presented was a little less than stellar. they both had the spot where you could save it, and essentially pick the ending from a menu, it rendered the rest of what you'd done, which factions you served/fought against in earlier levels, effectively a moot point.
in a way i'm glad for this choice, it'd mean not having to play through many hours of game to see all 4 endings of DX2, especially if time is at a premium, but sometimes the ending with respect to how you'd played up until then, didn't make sense.
i guess this might've stuck out to me more than it might have for other players, because i remember that i accidentally chose to end the second game through a faction who was, until that moment, an enemy accidentally, by turning a corner and reactively shooting the leader of the faction i was working for in the head before realising who he was. _________________

I just feel like mentioning The Stygian Abyss was an awesome game and actually predated Doom in terms of first person gaming. The sequel was even better (although in my opinion neither measured up to the top down Ultima titles, but they were still exceptional games).
