Re: Valkyria Chronicles 2!!!!! (3 days ago)
So, if this sells really well are we shooting ourselves in the foot for the ps3 follow-up? I mean the first "undersold" so does sega say it only works on a portable platform or sees it as series success and ports it over? Guess we find out when the upcoming reveal (16th) is made.

Re: Mafia 2 Review (2 weeks ago)
SO reading through, its the same as the first one, and thats OK with me.Is there any truth to the console versions being gimped with framerate issues etc. (which was also true of the original port)?
Re: Memoirs of a PAL RPG gamer. (News/releases/etc) (2 weeks ago)
I recently picked upa 360 for $200ish as they celared stock to make way for the new black model. I've played it twice . My ps3 gets played every day. Don't panic about backwards compatability, PS2s are $110max now days so you can et one of those for the GREAt ps2 rpgs (if you dont already have one). So PS3 purchase gets my tick. As for priorities, life needs its luxeries and impulses too. You say you have had work done and your now saving for future work? are you insured? Its all a personal decsion. It has been speculated that new models are on their way (larger harddrives) so if you want to wait a few months you can possibly get one cheaper as SKUs get cleared out, and save some money for both it and your teeth in the meantime.

Re: Dead Space: Sabotage on the way (1 month ago)
too much of a good thing will dilute teh franchise and splitting the fan base by requireing ownership of multiple platforms for the complete series gets a thumbs down from me.
Call of duty MW 2 HARDENED ps3 WANTED (1 month ago)
Don't need call of duty download code if you have used it......
Re: Which was the last game you finished? (1 month ago)
So for completeness: Battlefield bad company PS3.
Disclaimers: solo campaign only, easy. Was more interested in the story so went for a quick play.
So it turns out that the ending is pretty much ignored in BC2. Turns out that for about half the game I could just run to checkpoints with my healing syringe out and not need to shoot hardly anyone becasue once a checkpoint was reached the shooting stopped. Turns out that just cause has much better helecoptor control (there isnt any aim curser im 3rd person i could see). But it also turns out that there is a bit more humour in the story, and it was fun for the $18 I paid for it.
So considering its price, age, disclaimers above and that I know its more a multiplayer title (but we have all moved on I'm sure), it was still a worthwhile romp. 6.5/10.

Battlefield: bad company 2 campaign
I enjoyed it more then COD:MW2. It wasn't the best FPS ever or anything, but still a good time. I am wanting a lean button though so I can make better use of the (short-term) cover.
My online experience as mixed with the server being unavailable at one time and the connection lost in the lobby another, but I managed to mid-rank in my first 4 conquest games, and place a few charges in my first rush game. Not bad for a newb. I'm not sure at RRP its better value then the downloadable 1942 (which i also own) but i don't regret the play through. 8.2/10.

After 224 hours, 1610km, 219 faction items, 9778 kills and 5341 sabotages (not including pre-purchase demo play):
Just Cause 2 PS3 platinum (75%) with Vanderbildt Leisure Liner patch
There is probably enough comments about its pros & negatives so I'll just comment on what I'd like to see in the 3rd ---- ability to re-enter copters as they are falling, more underwater stuff (spear fishing and submarines maybe), being able to order more then one thing at a time from store drops, and more in-game effect from missions (e.g. we are told often that communications are disrupted and morale is lowered by completing missions with no apparent in-game effect showing this) --
but I'm nit-picking. It hit all the right buttons for me and whilst I wouldn't call it the best game ever, its certainly the one I've had most fun with this year (including red dead - stupid cowboys cant swim)

Re: Which was the last game you finished? (1 month ago)
Puzzle Quest 2 DS - or at least I think I have. The cutscence after defeating the big bad is a major disapointment. Still, it seems no more quests are being genereated so I assume I'm done. Its better then the first but isnt polished. For example the luck spell use green matches despite the text telling you its yellow. The story is pretty forgettable, but the RPG framing is workable. Its basically turns its back on over-world map crawling and instead becomes a quest based dungeon crawler more akin to a diablo type. Each character class play to unique stregths and the eniemies each have suitable spells and types. The AI seems to have been tweaked it makes a few mistakes every now and then, and the random drops that lead to a rampaging run that made the original feel like AI cheating is far less common. The pacing seems about right largely thanks to the removal of XP farming through mathing, with my barbarian maxing out (lvl 50) about 10 fights before the big bad. Its a solid title that wont convert non-belivers but should satisfy fans of the original more then galacitx did. 7.5/10

Re: PS1 Games = Free (1 month ago)
Not entering, but Spyro is ACE. Its the best of the series if only becasue jewel collection is tracked to get 100% completion, rather then being used as currency for upgrades. Perfect for the obessive compulsives like me......
